Why should you wait untill RC1, If it's allready fully translated.

It's for the translators to decide sovereign. Release of Beta language packages always creates some kind of pressure for changes via suggestions for changes/improvements, that the translators perhaps don't want to consider and use time to communicate about, giving reasons and explanations at the recent development stage. It is about if you work on it in a team, you don't want translation discussions messed with other input than input from from translation team members. Also release of a beta language package can create pressure for support, that the translator(s) don't want to handle.

It is not about beeing reluctant to share, but purely aboat work load and keeping the eye on the ball when you work on it. It gives at better final laguage faster for all , but available for the users later.

And as mentioned : The path in which way to do things is a decision by the translator(s).

Then they should really change the text diplayed on www.phpbbdrie.nl cause there they firtst say that the download link is just below (so it's finished for release) and a few lines lower they say they want to wait untill RC1. And here on STG they provide a downloadlink as well. They should make up there mind and not play with us. either they say to give a downloadlink and also do it, or they say they don't and don't give it away ON ANY FORUM.

My reaction is probably not what everyone likes, but they should decide what the want, one or the other. IMO they can release it, and just like the phpBB devs they can refuse all support before RC1

At this point, there won't be to much changes anymore to the language files, so I can't imagine that they still have tons of work on translating. I've done some translating myself and if they are a little bit committed to it, they should have finished translating after two weeks with their team.

well, maybe it's because i'm from belgium, and they're from the netherlands. we allways pick on each other.

I have checked what you have written here - not about our little discussion about how to realease a language package, but the facts, that you have brought up in your latest post above. (May I add, that I do not speak Dutcth at all, but I can read Dutch, if I really take my time, because written Dutch is a bit similar to my own native language and bit to German language, so I can get the meaning out of written Dutch sentenses.)

The facts are, as I see it :

1 The download link in the starting post in this topic does not work.
2 From what I can read and out of http://www.phpbbdrie.nl - you are right about that the Dutch language package will not be available before RC1.

This also sets the posts in the beginning of this topic in a whole other perspective.

If the Dutch translation team don't want to make their Dutch language package available by linking to a available development version, then this topic should not be here in this forum at all, because this forum is for MODs/ADD ONs in development available, not for this kind of "pre-opening advertising" ... especially when we talk about language packages, that are functional, despite they are not fully translated, if they are bundled correct (not translated files are just English files).

This is to me both embarassing and ridiculous.
