phpBB2's "Retirement" Announced

I was never around for phpBB2. Well, on phpBB.com anyway.

I have used phpBB2 on localhost for testing though, and I don't know what the big fuss is about. phpBB3 is much better, I think it's good that the phpBB group is changing its focus to v3.

phpBB2 has sentimental value to some of us.

I know what phpBB2, but not legacy. Is Legacy 2's codename like Olympus is 3's codename?

End-of-life (EOL). Sometimes software companies stop selling or supporting their software products (e.g., not releasing new patches). At this point the product will be said to be in the status of "legacy", "vintage", "abandoned" or "end of life."
