AutoMod install modules

Ok, so now that I've created several modules, UCP/MCP/ACP and have them in a /root/*.* directory in the mod folder.
They copy ok, but how do I get them to show up in Module Management after installing with Automod? I've seen this done with several mods, but I can't figure our what they are doing. If there an easy tutorial for this?

I've been searching around but I get nothing relevant (I don't know what to search for I guess)
