I have a question and hope one of you can help.
All I need to move from Phpbb2 to Phpbb3 is the user database.
For testing I have 2.0.22 and 3.0b2 installed on a local machine. I have imported the 2.0 phpbb_user database from the web based board and added that to the local 2.0 board and have all the users loaded.
When I run the upgrade script from 3.0b2 I get this error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function utf8_clean_string() in C:\Program Files\EasyPHP 2.0b1\www\phpBB3\upgrade\users_upgrade.php on line 218

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Woogle,

Please install the latest Beta5 --> and actually, as you are probably using it to test, and not run live, you might want to install the latest CVS.
They have the converter there that you should use, Beta2 didn't have a converter.

Thanks for the info. When I finally figured it all out the conversion went over without a hitch.
I didn't understand the instructions very well for the conversion. My problem was the converter could not locate the database from the old forum. I did the fresh phpBB3 b5 install and used a different prefix for the table. Then imported the old table into the new then ran the converter.
Went very well and no data lost.
Thanks again.

Awesome!! great to hear you got everything converted alright. Clapping

In the most recent CVS, it has some better options and functions, they also have a bunch of converter bugs fixed in the latest CVS, so for anybody else considering upgrade at this time, hold off just a bit longer for RC1 or use the CVS to upgrade to as a test.

You can upgrade to RC1 from Beta, but be aware that you won?t be able to/cannot get official phpBB.com support for an upgraded board (BetaX -> RCx)... just so you are aware.
If this is not a concern for you, then go for it, otherwise, I would wait until RC1 to run the conversion script and run your board live.

As a side note, STG will always provide full support for any phpBB3 installation version.

I noticed this file in the old forum area. Was it created by the converter?
Thanks

No, the only file created by the converter would have been a forums.dat in the cache directory.

Also, you should not use this upgrade script. You should use the one in phpBB3 Beta 5, or wait for RC1.
