Hi,

Will the zip smilie pak work if the .tgz pak is not installed?

The reason I ask is I installed the zip pak on phpBB3 Gold and the smilies don't show - the only things that show are small boxes with x's in them. I have refreshed the template and the imagesets.

I just got a program that will download .tgz files, but I can't figure out how to upload with it

I really only want the smaller group of smilies.

.tgz stands for tar ball gzipped, which means it?s a type of compression format, kinda like .zip
What you have to do is uncompress the .tgz file and in it contains all of the individual smilies, simply upload them to your server and you should be all set to go.

I've decided I'd like to use just the zip file so I only have the 35 smilies.

I was able to install the zip pak at my board, but the smilies just show up as small boxes with red x's in them. Do you know what I can do?

I have refreshed the template and the imageset and removed the smilies that came with phpBB3, but that hasn't helped any.

My guess is they were updated to the wrong location?
You can view source and see what the path is supposed to be, then see if you uploaded those images to that directory or another one.
